Sixth Anniversary of the passing of Hon. Malcolm Guishard

(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- It was six years ago on June 11, 2007, that the Nevisian public and the Federation, learnt of the passing of the Hon. Malcolm Guishard, Leader of the Opposition in the Federal Parliament of St Kitts-Nevis.

The reports indicated that Mr. Guishard was swimming at Gallows Bay in Nevis when he complained of short breath and chest pains. He was immediately taken to the Alexandra Hospital but succumbed to his illness upon arrival.

At the time of his death, he was the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly.

He was first elected to the Federal House on November 29, 1993 and went on to win three additional elections in 1995, 2000 and 2004.

He also served as Deputy Premier of Nevis, and elected representative of St. John’s Constituency from June 1, 1992 to July 10, 2006.
