BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS – The St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots saw their 2026 campaign come to a disappointing end on Thursday night, falling to the Barbados Tridents in front of a home crowd.
Electing to bat first, the Patriots endured a nightmare start, stumbling to a precarious 6 for 3 early in the innings before slumping further to 27 for 4. Wanindu Hasaranga provided much-needed counter-attacking resistance, blasting a brilliant 45 off just 25 balls to give the total some respectability. However, the Patriots were ultimately bowled out for 118, derailed by a dominant spell from Player of the Match Chris Green, who claimed 4 for 20.
The Tridents’ chase began with similar drama, as Jason Holder tore through the top order to reduce them to 4 for 2 in the opening over. Despite the early tremor, Quinton de Kock played a composed, unbeaten knock of 44, pairing with Sherfane Rutherford (23) to steady the chase. Holder finished with impressive figures of 3 for 20, but it wasn’t enough to halt the visitors, who overhauled the target in the 18th over to finish on 120 for 6 and extinguish the Patriots’ postseason hopes.
