SL Horsfords Highlights are the 2017 Football champions on Nevis. The feat was achieved on the evening of Wednesday 15th March when they engaged a determined Youths of the Future team, in game two of the best of three finals.
Having won the first match, the Highlights team was immediately on the offensive and it took a couple of great saves from the goalie for the Youths team to keep them at bay in the early exchanges.
However, after some intense pressure was applied on him by the Highlights strikers, he eventually wilted and one was struck home. That was immediately followed up by a super strike from way down town.
Make that 2 goals to nil in favour of Highlights.
However, with seconds to go to end the first half, Zakeese Smith for the Youths, made a super conversion from a free kick.
Match on!
The Youths started the second half with probably the goal of the match, as Zakeese Smith again, this time shaking the defenders in fantastic fashion and leaving Goalie PAS stranded, much to the delight of the Youths supporters
The scoreline then was 2 goals-all.
However, the more experienced Highlights team, kept their nerves and were able to put in two more goals before the final whistle and sealing the deal to yet another championship.
