Social Security to hand over EC$155,000 in gifts on Friday afternoon

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, FEBRUARY 23RD 2013 (CUOPM) – The St. Christopher and Nevis Social Security Board will hand over building material and transportation equipment totaling nearly EC$155,000 this afternoon.

During a ceremony at the Fire & Rescue Services, Prime Minister and Minister of Social Security, the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas will present a 2012 Toyota Hiace Bus, valued at EC$73,000 to Her Majesty’s Prison; a 2012 Nissan frontier Pickup valued at EC$65,000 to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA); a EC$2,980 electrical stove to the Sandy Point Police Station; building materials valued at EC$11,031 to Her Majesty’s Prison and building and bathroom material to the Fire & Rescue Services valued at EC$2,561.

The gifts to the total value of close to EC$155,000 will be handed over this afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Fire & Rescue Services.

The ceremony will be chaired by Director of Social Security, Mrs. Sephlin Lawrence, the Invocation by Superintendent of Prison, Mr. Franklyn Dorset.

Remarks will be said by Social Security Board Chairman, Mr. Halva Hendrickson; Minister of Social Security, Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas and Minister of Homeland Security, the Hon. Patrice Nisbett.

Chief Fire Officer, Mr. Hester Rawlins will give the Vote of Thanks.
