BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, October 8, 2026 — Minister of Sports, the Honourable Samal Duggins, has praised St. Kitts and Nevis’ Jahzara Claxton and Tiquanny Williams for their outstanding performances on the international sporting stage, describing their achievements as a source of pride for the Federation.
Minister Duggins noted that the accomplishments of the young athletes demonstrate the depth of sporting talent in St. Kitts and Nevis and highlight the Federation’s growing contribution to regional and international sports.
At just 20, Claxton was named Player of the Series after helping the West Indies Women secure a commanding 3–0 sweep over Zimbabwe in their three-match T20 International series. The talented Kittitian all-rounder finished the series with 73 runs and seven wickets, including figures of three wickets for 14 runs in the second T20I. She also earned Player of the Match honours in the opening encounter after scoring an unbeaten 31 and taking two wickets for 16 runs.
Minister Duggins highlighted Claxton’s all-round consistency and ability to make valuable contributions with both bat and ball, noting that her achievement reflects the promise and potential of young sporting talent from St. Kitts and Nevis.
On the football field, Williams has also been in impressive form for the St. Kitts and Nevis national team, the Sugar Boyz, scoring eight of the Federation’s 10 goals across their first four Concacaf Nations League matches.
Williams’ scoring run has included a brace against Bonaire, a hat-trick against Grenada, and goals in both encounters against Cuba. His contributions have been instrumental in the team’s attacking performances throughout the League B, Group C campaign.
“These performances speak to the talent, discipline and competitive spirit that continue to carry the flag of St. Kitts and Nevis proudly on the international stage,” Minister Duggins said.
He extended congratulations to Claxton, Williams, and the entire Sugar Boyz squad, encouraging them to remain focused and continue striving for excellence.
“Congratulations to Jahzara, Tiquanny and the Sugar Boyz. Keep pushing, keep representing, and keep making the Federation proud,” he added.
