Springer Says Thanks

Senior Sports Officer in St.Kitts, Vernon Springer, took time out on Monday in an exclusive interview with NTV Sports to say thanks to all those individuals and business agencies that united to make the St.Kitts leg of the recently concluded CPL tournament, a huge success.

Springer thanked God first of all for allowing fair weather throughout and for protection and guidance.
He had high praise for the Local organizing committee headed by Mr. Arthur Sharpe.‘They did a fantastic job,’ he stated.

He also thanked everyone who played a part: ‘From the vendors, taxi drivers; hotel staff; grounds men…everyone,’ he said.
He noted that St.Kitts and Nevis was promoted for nine days worldwide, in a big way at a very low cost. During each match, promotions on the Federation beamed across the screen and this was carried on some of the major networks across the world, beaming to millions of persons worldwide.

He noted that in comparison, during the 2014 super bowl game, a thirty second ad cost in the vicinity of $100,000.00 to 300,000.00.
He pointed out that St.Kitts and Nevis has produced some world class athletes:

Bertin Fox—Body building

Kim Collins—Athletics

Nevis has produced some seven international cricketers

‘We should use such things as a base to sell ourselves,’ he opined.

In reference to the lights that went out during the T-20 match versus Bangladesh, he noted that it was a freak storm and there was a technical glitch which is currently being sorted out with the hope of such an incident will not recur.
He pointed out that Sports Minister Glen Phillip and himself will shortly be making a trip to the UK in order to follow up on the impetus gained from the CPL and will be contacting league teams in England to accept talented cricketers like Adelvin Phillip and Jeremiah Louis towards their further development.

He noted also that currently, Akeem Saunders is doing a stint in the Barbados leagues, along with Kieran Powell.
While in the UK, the duo will also be making contact with one of the top premier division Football clubs with a mindset of establishing an academy in St.Kitts.

He also thanked the people of Nevis for their support during the games and promised that next year an official ticket outlet will be set up in Nevis.

He noted that negotiations for next year’s CPL games are already underway as St.Kitts and Nevis has the right of refusal to the games and shortly an announcement will be made as to which games St.Kitts and Nevis will be hosting next year.
He also stated that the CPL tournament will be played next year between June and July and so St.Kitts should be hosting games immediately after the St.Kitts-Nevis Music Festival.
