Friday, 20th June, was a very significant day in the celebration of Child Month, on the island of Nevis.
On that day, preschools from across the island met at the ET Willet Park in a show of athletic talent.
The distinguished patron for the day was Ms. Jaqueline Brookes, who was the first Pre Schools’ Coordinator on the island and had the unique distinction of organising the first ever Pre Schools’ sports meet on the island.
After an impressive march past, eleven schools challenged each other in events such as: Thread the roll, endurance race, dress up race, tire race, bottle filling race, knots and bolts, obstacle race, flat race and relay race.
There was also an exhibition race for Nurseries only.
At the end of the meet, the St. John’s Preschool was the runaway champion.
