St. Kitts and Nevis and Switzerland to strengthen diplomatic relations

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, MARCH 14TH 2013 (CUOPM) – St. Kitts and Nevis and Switzerland have agreed to strengthen their relations in several areas.

Her Excellency Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to St. Christopher and Nevis, Mrs. Line Leon-Pernet presented her credentials to Governor General, His Excellency Sir Edmund Lawrence prior to the courtesy call on the Federation’s Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas.

Discussions centered on the local, regional and international economic and financial conditions. Training and renewable energy including geothermal, wind and solar – were also discussed.

She also met with St. Kitts and Nevis’ Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Patrice Nisbett and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Elvis Newton.

Mrs. Leon-Pernet, who holds a Diploma in International Relations from the Fern Universtät of Brigue in Switzerland, is based in the Dominican Republic.

She began working in the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and was trained in Bern and Lima before undertaking assignments in Madrid, Spain; Singapore; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Luxemburg, New York and Bangkok, Thailand

Her accreditation to St. Kitts and Nevis took place in February 2012.
