St. Kitts and Nevis’ Foreign Minister at the 68th General Assembly of the United Nations

UNITED NATIONS, NEW YORK, SEPTEMBER 23RD 2013 (CUOPM) – St. Kitts and Nevis’ Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Patrice Nisbett, begins a hectic schedule at the 68th General Assembly of the United Nations on Monday 23rd September.

Mr. Nisbett, who is part of the delegation, led by St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, will attend a High Level Meeting and give a presentation on the Realization of the Millennium Development Goals and other Internationally Agreed Development Goals for Persons with Disabilities.

He will later hold bi-lateral talks with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Lithuania, His Excellency Mr. Linas Linkevicius on several issues including the possible enhancement of cooperation between both countries.

Bilateral talks will also be held by Minister Nisbett, on the strengthening of relations with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan; His Excellency Erlan Idrissov and with Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the five Nordic Countries and the CARICOM Nations and with Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Group of Small Island Developing States.

While in New York, the Nevisian-born Foreign Minister will hold talks with Georgia’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Her Excellency Ms. Maia Panjikidze on strengthening relations between St. Kitts and Nevis and Georgia.

Mr. Nisbett will also attend receptions hosted by the President of South Africa, His Excellency Jacob Zuma, and Senator the Hon. Bob Carr Australia’s Foreign Minister; a ministerial breakfast meeting on “100 years Peace: Advancing the framework for peaceful settlements of disputes hosted by the Kingdom of the Netherlands; and an Informal Lunch for CARICOM Foreign Ministers hosted by His Excellency K. Shamnmugan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Singapore
