St Vincent parliament approves increase in government borrowing limit

KINGSTOWN, St Vincent — Parliamentary approval has been granted to the government of St Vincent and the Grenadines to increase the borrowing limit from $35 million to $50 million.

Members of Parliament gave unanimous support to a motion, which was tabled in Parliament by prime minister and minister of finance, Dr Ralph Gonsalves.

The prime minister said that the purpose of this increase is to meet the current requirements of the government.

Opposition leader, Arnhim Eustace, said that, while he welcomes the decision to give the public servants the salary increase, he is calling on the government to manage its financial affairs properly.
