Statement by the Office of the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris

The Honourable Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris, whilst attending the 37th CARICOM Heads of Government Conference in Georgetown, Guyana, has been advised a short time ago that the Honourable Vance Amory, Premier of Nevis and Senior Minister and Minister of Labour, Social Security and Ecclesiastical Affairs in the Unity Government of St. Kitts and Nevis, has taken ill whilst on official business in Canada.

The Honourable Premier complained about severe pains and was admitted to hospital in Toronto, Canada, where he is currently undergoing treatment and observation. The most recent reports suggest that Premier Amory is not in a life-threatening situation and is in good spirits. However he remains hospitalized at this time and his loving wife, Mrs. Verni Amory, is en route to be at his side.

The Honourable Prime Minister has expressed gratitude that Premier Amory is resting comfortably and has asked for the prayers of Kittitians and Nevisians at home and abroad for the full and speedy recovery of his dear friend and colleague, a man who has given his life to the service of others. The Honourable Prime Minister has also asked that we respect the privacy of the Premier and his family at this understandably difficult time for them.

More information will be provided to the public as and when it becomes available.
