Sunday’s shooting of Glenford Percival was the second known attempt on his life

Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 23, 2018 – Sunday’s shooting of Glenford Percival was the second attempt on his life in three years.

Percival was shot and injured Sunday, 23 September in the New Road area. He was rushed to the J. N. France General Hospital for treatment.

His condition and details of the shooting have not been disclosed.

Police are said to be investigating.

Percival was shot and injured on July 30, 2015 in an area near the St. Peter’s Main Road and Tegreman Boulevard.

Police said Percival and a number of employees of the People Employment Programme (PEP) were working in the vicinity of the CONTEC Bus Stand around 10:45 that morning, when a silver-coloured motorcar was seen driving down the Boulevard.

After the motorcar came to a halt, three armed, masked assailants disembarked and discharged a number of rounds in the direction of the workers, one of which struck Percival in his right shoulder.

The gunmen then embarked the vehicle and quickly drove away in the Shadwell area.

Percival was taken to the JN France General Hospital, where he was treated for his injury and was warded in a stable condition.
