Ten Vincentians deported from the US in 2022, the most of the OECS

Ten Vincentians were deported from the United States in 2022, the most of any country in the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).

Last year, 32 citizens of Antigua & Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St Kitts & Nevis, St Lucia and St Vincent & the Grenadines were compulsorily removed from the United States, the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said in their 2022 Annual Report.

Of the 32, ten were from St Vincent and the Grenadines, five from Dominica and Grenada, and four from Antigua & Barbuda, St Kitts & Nevis, and St Lucia.

The US deported 72,177 people to 150 countries worldwide in 2022.

The report said of the 72,177 people deported, 61 percent (44,096) had a criminal history.

In 2021, 44 OECS citizens were deported, most of whom were from St Lucia (16).

In 2020, 46 OECS citizens were deported, with the most significant number (13) being citizens of Dominica.
