Bank Of Nevis Continues Sponsorship of Inter High Athletics Meet Championship.

A brief but significant ceremony was held at the conference room of the Bank of Nevis on Tuesday 14th February.

On that day, the CEO of the Bank, Mr. Everette Martin officially handed over a sponsorship cheque to the tune of $20,000.00, to the Minister of Sports and Education, the Hon. Troy Liburd.

The funds will be used to assist with the hosting of the Inter high school championship on Nevis.

Minister Liburd expressed his gratitude to the Bank of Nevis, noting that they truly continue to look out for the people of Nevis and even hinted at seeking further assistance in the future, for the necessary improvements required at the Nevis Athletic Stadium, where the meet will be held.

The youthful Meet Directors, in Ms. Nichola Fraser and Mr. Aljay Newton, gave some specific details on the upcoming meet:

The meet will be held over a period of two days-Saturday 11th and 12th March, commencing at 12 noon on both days.

The three Secondary schools on the island will compete for supremacy: The Charlestown Secondary School; the Gingerland Secondary School and the Nevis International Secondary School.

The opening ceremony will take place on the 10th of March, in Charlestown.

The athletes will march from the Administration Building in Charlestown and finish in the vicinity of the Bank of Nevis, where a ceremony will be held.

The patron for the event will be selected from the Gingerland Secondary School but is yet to be named.

The Directors of the event are cordially inviting the members of the general public to come out and show their full support for the athletes.

The handing over ceremony was ably chaired by the Marketing officer at the Bank, Mr. Pheon Jones and also present were the Permanent Secretary in the Ministries of Education and Sports, Mr. Kevin Barrett and Director of Sports, Jamir Claxton.
