Charlestown-Nevis-Coordinator of the Youth Department, Mrs. Zahnela Claxton is urging responsible citizens within the community to nominate teen agers who have made a significant impact on the community through their contributions and achievements, for the 2016 edition of the 25 most remarkable teens’ awards.

The awards ceremony which is in its fifth year, is hosted by the Department of Youth Empowerment in St.Kitts and involves the participation of the Youth and Sports Department in Nevis.

The annual awards ceremony focuses on the achievements of 25 teen agers from across the Federation of St.Kitts and Nevis who have made significant contributions in a variety of fields.

These include:

Writing; Courage to overcome; the performing arts; Leadership; visual arts; civic involvement; athletics; dance; entrepreneurship and spiritual commitment.

Application forms are available at the Youth and Sports Department in Nevis.

The process is simple: Each teenager must be nominated by two persons and they will give a brief summary of why in their opinion they believe that the particular teen should receive the prestigious award.

Today Friday 3rd June is the deadline for application. Interested persons have until 4 pm today to submit such applications.

Miss Claxton made the point that anybody is eligible to nominate a teen. It could be a parent; Pastor; Teacher or anybody who has been impressed with the achievements and contributions of a particular teen to the benefit of the community.

The age range is 12 to 19 years.

Last year’s awardees from Nevis were: Trevin Nisbett; Colin Kezron Archibald Jr; Gassano Barry; Shavonne Maynard; Lucien York and Kayla Standiford

These persons continue to do voluntary work within the community and have also worked in collaboration with the Youth and Sports Department.
