The Joycelyn Liburd Primary School hosts 27th annual Graduation and Prize Giving Ceremony

(GINGERLAND, NEVIS)- Under the esteemed patronage of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Samuel the Joycelyn Liburd Primary School held its 27th annual Graduation and Prize Giving Ceremony on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at the St. George’s Anglican Church.

Under the theme, ‘In the Journey of Life, Attitude + Choices = Your Destiny’, thirty-six students proudly walked down the aisle of the church to say their farewells as they moved on a step further in their journey to higher education.

The afternoon proceedings began with the Invocation by Mr. Chesley Manners. This was followed by the National Anthem by the grade 6 students.

Brief remarks were made by the Principal of the school, Ms. Barbara Hendrickson. Ms. Hendrickson expressed how proud she was of the 2014 graduating class. She encouraged them to work hard and to stay focused as they moved on to the Secondary school level.

Education Officer, Ms. Andrea Bussue also gave brief remarks on behalf of the Department of Education. She too had high words of praise for both teacher and students of the JLPS.

Youth coordinator, Ms Zahnela Claxton was the featured speaker for this event. She used the occasion to enlighten, encourage and entertain the graduating class in particular and the large audience in attendance.

Graduating student Anel Ferguson did an excellent job delivering the valedictory speech. This was followed by the presentation of the certificates by the patrons.

The master of the ceremony was Mr. Cory Tyson. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by PTA President, Ms. Seba Jones.

The ceremony came to a close with the recessional and the lighting of the candles.
