The Lighting Ceremony of Lighting Ceremonies Zion Village

Nevis-Wednesday 19th December, a massive crowd gathered at Zion Village in Gingerland, to witness the much anticipated 19th annual lighting of the Christmas theme park.
This particular ceremony as indicated by Area representative, hon. Eric Evelyn, is the biggest and best on the island every year.
In his remarks, he lauded the committee responsible, led in no small measure by the man whose brain child it is and chief financier of the event, Mr. Carlton Williams.
Mr. Williams for his part, noted that on his constant returns to his homeland, Nevis, he noted that there were Christmas tree lighting ceremonies in other parts of Nevis but ‘not even a see-me-jimmy light in Zion,’ so he decided to change that.
The first year, he and his committee started small, but every year they have endeavoured to make it bigger and better.
The honored patrons on the night were Pastor and Sister Theophilus Kelly, who have teamed up to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout Nevis for many years.
Pastor Kelly also delivered the stirring message of the hour and there was entertainment by Meredith and Sylvia Hendrickson; the Cox String band, some youthful dancers and several young poets.
The much anticipated moment came, when the switch was flicked by the patrons and ZION evolved into a sea of lights.
It was indeed a glorious sight to behold and the many persons present were wowed by the occasion and made it a picture moment, as cell phones flashed consistently throughout the night, as lots of individuals remained until late into the night, enjoying the pulsating sounds of the Cox string band and DJ BULF.
