He informed this media house that all of the contestants have been sourced and everyone competing in the different pageants for Culturama 2013 will be launched on that date.
The launch will be preceded by a mini street parade from the Cultural Complex to Charlestown. The parade will continue on to the Samuel Hunkins Drive then along the street between Scotia Bank and the Slack’s Building then assemble at the front of the A. L Evelyn Building. The 34 contestants participating in 5 different shows will introduce themselves to the general public.
Mr. Liburd highlighted the new pageant that has been introduced to this year’s lineup. This new show is the Ms Teen Nevis where six (6) teenage contestants from the High Schools on Nevis will be vying for the crown. Mr. Liburd explained that the pageant was introduced to bridge the age gap of the Mr. and Ms Talented Youth Pageant and the Ms Culture Queen Pageant.
He stated that once the individuals had entered the Talented Youth Pageant, they would have to wait until they turn 18 years to enter the Ms Culture Queen Pageant. Liburd was of the view that the Ms Teen Nevis would fill the gap and prepare contestants for bigger pageants including the Ms Culture Queen Pageant.
He further indicated that six (6) contestants will compete in the Ms Culture Queen Pageant; five (5) for the Swimwear Pageant; the Mr. Kool Contests will also see five (5) contestants and the Mr. and Ms Talented Youth Pageant will have twelve (12) contestants.
