Three persons, all black, were shot dead on Saturday in Jacksonville, Florida.

The shooting took place inside a Dollar General store, situated close to Edward Waters University, a small historically Black college.

Sheriff T.K. Waters, speaking at a hastily convened press conference, did not mince his words, denouncing the shooting as one that was motivated by hatred of black people.

In that regard, he cited the so-called manifesto of the shooter, which he said laid bare his “disgusting ideology of hate.”

“Plainly put, this shooting was facially motivated and he hated black people; he wanted to kill ‘niggers'”, he revealed, quoting the document.

The shooter is also reportedly dead.

Edward Waters University revealed in a statement that students were being kept in their dorms.

It added that there was no reason to believe that any of the university’s students or faculty were involved.
