An investigation has been launched into a tragic traffic accident that resulted in the deaths of four individuals on St. Kitts. The incident occurred on the main island road near Brimstone Hill on December 11th, 2024, between 7:15 AM and 7:45 AM.
Initial inquiries indicate that an omnibus carrying five passengers collided with a jeep that had one passenger while traveling along the road. The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF), along with the St. Kitts-Nevis Fire and Rescue Services and Emergency Medical Services, responded to the scene.
Rozina Herbert from Sandy Point, a passenger on the omnibus, and Dijorn Davis from Old Road, the driver of the jeep, were transported to Joseph N. France General Hospital. Unfortunately, Ms. Herbert succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival. Mr. Davis, who underwent emergency surgery for extensive injuries, also passed away from his injuries.
Ian Jules from St. Paul’s and Belinda Paul from Sandy Point, both passengers in the jeep and the omnibus respectively, were pronounced dead at the scene. One omnibus passenger is currently in the Intensive Care Unit, while another has been admitted to the Surgical Ward with minor injuries. The omnibus driver, Jamie Herbert, and another passenger were treated for minor injuries and have since been discharged.
The Crime Scene Unit of the RSCNPF processed the area and collected several items of evidential value. An investigation is underway, and the general public will be kept informed of its developments.
The RSCNPF extends its sincere condolences to the citizens and residents of St. Kitts and Nevis who have been affected by this devastating event.
