Basseterre, St. Kitts – The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force continues to uphold its commitment to ensuring road safety, enforcing traffic regulations, and supporting the judicial process.
Throughout 7–8 July 2025, several matters were adjudicated at the Basseterre, Sandy Point, and Charlestown Magistrate Courts. The following is a summary of the cases disposed of Basseterre Magistrate Court – 7th & 8th July 2025 (Presided by Her Honour Yasmine Clarke)
1. Licensing Authority vs Naeijah Dasent of Dieppe Bay – The defendant pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention, committed on 26th December 2024. She was convicted and fined $1,000.00, payable within three (3) months or in default, serve three (3) months imprisonment.
2. Licensing Authority vs Talbert Clarke of Conaree – The defendant pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention, also on 26th December 2024. He was convicted and fined $850.00, payable within two (2) months or, in default, two (2) months imprisonment.
3. Licensing Authority vs Yoel Gonzalez Romero of Newtown – Heard on 8th July. The defendant pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention, committed on 29th December 2024. He was convicted and cautioned.
District “B” Magistrate Court, Sandy Point – 7th July 2025 (Presided by Her Honour Karen Hill-Hector)
4. Licensing Authority vs Alain Isaiah of Sandy Point – The defendant pleaded not guilty to driving without due care and attention, committed on 31st May 2024 at Mansion. He was found guilty, convicted, and fined $800.00, payable by 7th August 2025, or in default, serve thirty (30) days imprisonment. His driver’s licence was also suspended for thirty (30) days.
Magistrate Court, Charlestown – 8th July 2025 (Presided by His Honour Mr. Reynold Benjamin)
5. Drevorlin Rivera of Bath Village – Convicted and fined $3,000.00 forthwith or 3 months imprisonment for wounding.
6. Adia Weekes of Cane Garden – Convicted and fined $1,000.00 forthwith or 21 days imprisonment for driving without due care and attention.
7. Taveres Browne of Rawlins – Convicted and fined $1,000.00 forthwith or 21 days imprisonment for driving without due care and attention.
8. Shemar Tracey of Cane Garden – Convicted and fined:
• $750.00 forthwith or 2 months imprisonment for driving without insurance
• $500.00 forthwith or 14 days imprisonment for driving without a valid and unexpired driver’s licence
• $350.00 forthwith or 7 days imprisonment for driving without the relevant class of licence
9. Mervin Powell of Prospect – Convicted and fined $500.00 forthwith or 14 days imprisonment for driving without due care and attention.
10. Carmella Caines of Farms – Convicted and fined $500.00, payable in one month or, in default, 14 days imprisonment for driving without due care and attention.
11. Omari, Leader of Stapleton – Convicted and fined $1,000.00 forthwith or 2 months imprisonment for driving without insurance, and cautioned for driving an unlicensed vehicle.
