We have the distinct pleasure of recognising a man whose name holds a special place in the history of the Bank of Nevis Limited—Mr. Richard Lupinacci, the institution’s very first General Manager.
When the Bank opened its doors in December 1985, Mr Lupinacci boldly accepted the responsibility of becoming its inaugural General Manager. He came to the Bank with experience from another financial institution, but what he encountered was something much bigger than simply a new job. He encountered a vision.
It was the vision of the late Dr Simeon Daniel—a vision of a financial institution owned by and established for the people of Nevis. Mr Lupinacci embraced that vision and graciously stepped into the challenge of helping to turn it into reality.
He worked tirelessly to put the Bank on a firm financial footing. He sought investors and explored opportunities to strengthen the institution. His focus was not simply on keeping the Bank open, but on creating a strong foundation from which the Bank could grow and soar.
For five years, Mr Lupinacci dedicated himself to that mission. Then, having helped establish the foundation upon which the Bank could continue its journey, he demitted office to pursue other opportunities – But the impact of those first five years cannot be understated.
