(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- On Saturday, July 13, 2013 Caribbean Cove was the venue where the big boys of Nevis calypso met to compete in the calypso Quarter Finals. The competition was to secure a spot in the Senior Kaiso Semi Finals Contest which is scheduled to take place on Friday, July 26, 2013 at the Cultural Complex.

The Quarter Finals saw a total of 19 Calypsonians competing but at the end of it all 7 were eliminated and 12 moved on to the next round, the Semi-Finals.

The 12 who advanced are:
1. Astro
2. Hollywood
3. Baker
4. Nutsie
5. Pupa Wheeler
6. Binghi
7. Gharlic
8. Lady Conscious
9. Lady Onna
10. By Surprise
11. Sabu
12. Meeko

The reigning Culturama Kaiso King is Keith ‘Dis N’ Dat’ Scarborough. He has officially released two songs from his 2013 ‘On De Rise Again’ album. The question being asked is if those two songs ‘On De Rise Again’ and ‘Thank You Lord’ are enough for him make to create  history for Culturama 39. If ‘Dis N’ Dat’ is to be crowned calypso king on Saturday, August 3, 2013 this will be the first time in the history of Culturama that a calypsonian would be king on consecutive occasions.

However, returning Calypsonian Binghi came back this year with a ‘bang’ and his song ‘SIDF Money’ has been receiving a lot of hits and positive feedback from the general public.

This year will marked 38 years since Scarborough has been competing in the calypso arena.
