Twelve families to compete in fourth annual Family Book Feud

(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- The Warner’s One Stop Family Book Feud is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the Nevis Performing Arts Centre (NEPAC).

This year marks the fourth year of the literacy event and it promises to be exciting, educating and interactive.

According to the Nevis Teacher Librarians, twelve schools throughout the island will be participating. This includes ten primary schools and the first formers of the Charlestown and Gingerland Secondary Schools.

The families will be tested on their knowledge of specific books chosen by the Librarians.

The parent/child teams are as follows:
Walwyn Family – Maude Cross Preparatory
The Thomas Family – Lyn Jeffers Primary
The Maloney Family – St. Thomas’ Primary
The Dookhan Family – Ivor Walters Primary
The Hull Family – Charlestown Secondary
The Maynard-Tyson Family – Joycelyn Liburd Primary
The Semple Family – St. James Primary
The Simmonds Family – Elizabeth Pemberton Primary
The Maynard-DaCosta Family – VOJN Primary
The Byron Family –Bellevue International Primary
The Dore-Ward Family – Charlestown Primary

The event is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. sharp. Tickets for the event are on sale for $5.00 and can be bought at any school on the island or from Mrs. Marva Roberts at the Ministry of Education, Marion Heights.

The organizers are expecting a huge crowd as they aim for children to develop a lifelong love for reading and writing.

There will be many floor prizes; and refreshments will be on sale.
