Two arrested and charged in shooting incidents in St. Kitts

(BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS) – The St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has arrested and charged Clifford ‘Clivey’ Bedford of Stapleton Housing for the murder of Devon ‘D Wuz’ Ryan.

Ryan was shot and killed at the Basseterre Bus and Ferry Terminal last year December 30, 2014.

Ryan, originally of Temple Alley but who resided in McKnight was the brother of Kenya ‘Francis’ Mitchum also of McKnight who was shot dead in Anguilla on December 15, 2014. Both incidents are believed to be gang related.

At Mitcham’s funeral service on January 5 in Basseterre, several persons were arrested as the funeral procession made its way to the Springfield Cemetery. In close proximity to the Basseterre Police Station, certain individuals began throwing bottles and stones at persons in the funeral procession. Police were forced to escort the funeral procession to the cemetery.

Meanwhile, the police also stated that a young man from West Farm was charged with the attempted murder of popular local artiste “Ashkenaz”.

The Public Relations Department further stated that Jermaine Hanley, also known as “Dappa Youth”, of West Farm, was formally arrested and charged for the offence of Attempted Murder of Uzaljavan ‘Ashkenazi’ Crosse, which was committed on December 20, 2014 at West Farm.

Uzaljavan ‘Ashkenazi’ Crosse was shot while in the hills above West Farm.
