Two cruise ship dock Sunday with 3,600 passengers

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, NOVEMBER 17TH 2013 (CUOPM) – Two cruise ships with just over 3,600 passengers docked at Port Zante on Sunday.

Cruise industry sources informed that the Marco Polo arrived from St. Maarten with 693-passengers while the Carnival Conquest docked from San Juan, Puerto Rico with 3,001 passengers.

Scores headed for Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park, sea and sun bathing on the beaches, snorkeling, sailing to Nevis, horseback riding, golfing, casino gambling, shopping and biking while others took time to surf the internet and make contact with friends and family.

Some 20,348 cruise passengers visited St. Kitts last week onboard 8 cruise ships.

On Sunday 10th the Explorer of the Seas docked with 3,090 passengers; 2,089 were on the Celebrity Summit on Monday 11th; 2,826 passengers on the Celebrity Reflection on Tuesday 12th; 3,095 on the Azura on Wednesday 13th; 2,871 passengers on the Adventure of the Seas and 2,742 on the Ventura on Thursday 14th while on Friday 15th there were 3,184 passengers on the Carnival Valor and 3,041 on the Emerald Princess.

A total of seven cruise ships are scheduled to visit St. Kitts this week with an estimated 19,000 passengers.

Nine ships are scheduled during the week of November 24th to 29th with an estimated 20,800 passengers. An estimated 81,000 cruise passengers are expected this month.

Projections for the 2013-2014 season call for an increase to 650,000 passengers and to more than 700,000 in 2014-2015.
