Two Illegal Firearms Recovered In Friday Night’s Search Operations ……. Three In Four Days

Basseterre, St. Kitts, February 27, 2016 (RSCNPF): Two illegal firearms with matching ammunition were found during Combined Search Operations Friday night (February 27) in the Newtown and St. Peters area. The search teams comprising of members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (SSU, Anti-Drug Unit and CID), the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force and Her Majesty’s Customs and Excise Department executed four  search warrants on properties in the areas.

During a search of one of six abandoned properties in the Newton area the teams uncovered one .32mm semi-automatic pistol with six  rounds of ammunition and one  357 Magnum revolver with six  rounds of ammunition. Also discovered during the search was a large quantity of cannabis and a quantity of crack cocaine. All items were seized by the police.

The execution of the warrants and the search of the abandoned property are a part of the ongoing “OPERATION VICE GRIP. The discovery of these two  illegal firearms brings to five  the number of illegal firearms removed from our communities this year and comes on the heels of one  recovered during a stop and search of persons on Tuesday (February 23).
