Jacqueline Williams has been chosen by the International Cricket Council (ICC) among the list of match officials for the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. The Jamaican, who has been a regional and international official for close to a decade, will be on the field for the second semi between hosts South Africa and England on Friday night at Newlands in Cape Town.
Claire Polosak of Australia will be the other umpire in the middle alongside Williams, with Eloise Sheridan as the TV umpire and Vrinda Rathi as the fourth umpire. India’s GS Lakshmi will be the match referee.
Williams is a very experienced umpire having officiated in men’s and women’s internationals since 2019. So far she has stood in 99 internationals (men’s and women’s), therefore Thursday’s semi-final will mark the milestone of her 100th international. She has also stood in nine first-class matches and 19 List-A matches.
The ICC also announced that New Zealand’s Kim Cotton and Nimali Perera of Sri Lanka will take charge of the other semi-finals between Australia against India on Thursday night also at Newlands. Suzanne Redfern will be the third umpire and Lauren Agenbag the fourth umpire. South Africa’s Shandre Fritz will be the match referee.
