Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 9, 2019 – Police have disclosed that armed bandits robbed customers at a Chinese restaurant in Basseterre on Sunday night.
“Investigations so far have revealed that at about 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, three masked men entered a restaurant on Wellington Road and demanded money. One of them had what appeared to be a firearm,” a police statement said.
“They robbed the customers present of their money and also took a sum of cash from the cash register before fleeing the scene. No one was injured during the incident,” police said.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing. Persons with information about this incident are asked to contact the Criminal Investigation Department at the Basseterre Police Station by dialing 465-2241, their nearest Police Station or the crime hotline at 707.
The armed robbery comes on the heels of two armed robberies in Nevis last week.
Police said that on Saturday 6th April an armed and masked man held up a bar in Clay Ghaut, demanded money and escaped with an undisclosed sum of money. No one was injured.
On Friday 5th April, three armed and masked men robbed an elderly Brazziers resident in Nevis of an undisclosed sum of money. Shots were fired and the victim was treated at Nevis’ Alexandra Hospital and discharged.
