Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 2, 2019 – Multiple stab wounds were responsible for the death of the Federation’s latest murder victim, a pathologist has concluded.

Constance Thompson-Gumbs

A police statement Thursday said Forensic Pathologist, Dr. Valery Alexandrov, performed the autopsy on the body of 77-year-old Constance Thompson-Gumbs of Conaree on May 1, 2019.
“Dr. Alexandrov concluded that her death was a result of hemorrhagic shock due to multiple stab wounds. Thompson was fatally wounded in an incident that took place at her home on April 29, 2019,” the police statement said. An earlier police statement said one person was in custody assisting with the investigations.
Thompson-Gumbs’ gruesome killing takes the number of murders in St Kitts and Nevis to 10 for 2019, the same number for the January to April period of 2018.
Thompson-Gumbs’ death is the first non-gun related murder and lone female to die violently in 2019.
Her killing came four days after Donald Cornelius of Stoney Grove, Nevis was gunned down in his yard on the night of Friday 26, April 2019.
Seven of the nine murders took place on St Kitts, the other two occurred on Nevis.
