Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 30, 2019 – A 77-year-old vendor was found dead Monday night with multiple stab wounds on her body, police confirmed Tuesday.
Police said they have launched an investigation and have a suspect in custody after responding to a call in the village of Conaree, just outside St Kitts’ Robert L Bradshaw International Airport.
“Police received a report of a body being found in a house at Conaree at approximately 5:30 p.m. The police responded and found the body of seventy-seven-year-old Constance Thompson-Gumbs lying motionless in the living room of her house with multiple stab wounds in various parts of her body,” a police statement said.
District Medical Officer, Dr. Maria Warner was summoned to the scene and pronounced Thompson dead. Personnel from the Forensic Unit processed the scene and took items of evidential value into custody.
“A man is in Police custody assisting with the investigating into the incident. Investigations into the matter are ongoing,” said the statement.
