Update : Young Man in Stable Condition Following Shooting Incident

Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 29, 2018 (RSCNPF): One person has been taken into Police custody following a shooting incident at George Street, Newtown on Wednesday, November 28 in which a young man was seriously injured.

The report was received at about 11:05 a.m. Preliminary investigations so far have revealed that 23-year-old Antoine Galloway of Mad House Alley, Newtown was walking along George Street when a lone gunman approached him and opened fired. Galloway was shot several times about the body. He was rushed to the hospital by the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) where he underwent emergency surgery. Galloway is currently listed as being in a stable condition.

Members of the Crime Scene Unit visited and processed the scene and items of evidential value were taken into Police custody. The person in custody is assisting with the investigation.

The Police are making an appeal to anyone who might have any information in relation to this incident to call the Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) at 467-1887, 467-1888, or 662-3468 or their nearest Police Station. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
