Basseterre, St. Kitts, February 18, 2018 – The value of goods and services from St. Kitts and Nevis to the United States hit a 13-year-low in 2017.
This is according to Trade Statistics issued by the United States Census Bureau.
Comparing 2017 to 2016, exports dropped US$1.3 million EC$3.5 million).
According to the U.S. Government agency, exports in 2017 were valued at US$47.8 million (EC$129 million), the lowest since 2004.
The record shows that the value of goods and services from St. Kitts and Nevis to the United States over the 14-year period is as follows: 2016 – US$49.1 million (EC$132.5 million); 2015 – US$56.7 million EC$153 million); 2014 – US$56.8 million); 2013 – US$54.3 million (EC$147.1 million); 2012 – US$56.8 million (EC$153.8 million); 2011 – US$54.7 million (EC$147.6 million); 2010 – US$50.6 million (EC$136.6 million); 2009 – US$48.4 million (EC$130.6 million); 2008 – US$54.4 million (EC$146.8 million); 2007 – US$53.6 million (EC$144.7 million); 2006 – US$50.1 million (EC$135.2 million); 2005 – US$49.7 million (EC$134.7 million)
St. Kitts and Nevis companies exporting goods and services to the United States and their products are Lutron Liamuiga (dimmer switches and fan speed controls); Harowe Servo (St. Kitts) Ltd (small motors, PC Board Assemblies, Rotor Assemblies and resolvers); Kajola-Kristada (connectors, filters, trap and surface mounts; for the Cable TV and Communications Industry); CSR/DDL (CSR rum/brandy and Brinley flavoured rum products); Jaro Electronics (industrial motors and transformers) and Caribelle Batik, whose products are mostly purchased by cruise passengers and stayover visitors.
