Vera Boylan Makes 90

Charlestown-Nevis—Resident at the Flambuoyant Seniors’ home in Nevis, Ms. Vera Boylan, celebrated her 90th birthday at the home on Monday 8th July.
A brief ceremony was held, which was chaired by Miss Trudy Prentice, Coordinator of the Seniors’ Division of the Department of Social Services.
The program commenced with prayer, the singing of the well-known hymn ‘To God be the glory’ and a scripture reading.
Congratulatory remarks were delivered by Nurse on duty, Nurse John, who congratulated the celebrant on reaching the important milestone and thanked the representatives from the Ministry of Social Development, who were present to celebrate with Ms. Boylan.
Minister of Community Development, Hon. Eric Evelyn, lauded the ‘birthday girl’ for her significant contribution to the Nevisian community and noted that she looked exceptionally good for 90.
He then presented her with a plaque and fruit basket from his Ministry, in collaboration with the City Drug store.
Those present, then sang the birthday song very lustily and the program concluded with Ms. Boylan thanking God and everyone for her extended life and a really great birthday.
She noted that she previously worked in the Health sector and now due to failing health, she has become a resident at the home and truly appreciates the great care that she is receiving.
