GEORGETOWN — Guyana Amazon Warriors gave their home fans plenty to celebrate on Wednesday night, pulling off a dramatic victory over the St. Lucia Kings as the 2026 CPL heat rises.
An explosive powerplay led by Kamil Pooran (40) got the Kings off to a flying start, but the narrative changed the second spin was introduced. Skipper Imran Tahir turned the match on its head, bamboozling the Kings’ middle order with his signature googly to finish with brilliant figures of 5 for 17 and restrict St. Lucia to 119 all out.
The chase was a test of nerves. Stalled at 48 required off the final 30 balls, the Warriors needed a spark—and Quentin Samson delivered. Samson smashed an electric 35 from just 11 balls to push Guyana over the finish line at 122/6.
