Safety has always been at the heart of Winair’s operations. Today, we are proud to mark an important milestone in that commitment.

Winair has successfully achieved registration under both the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) and IATA Standard Safety Assessment (ISSA) programs, making Winair the only airline worldwide currently holding both registrations concurrently.

This achievement provides internationally recognised safety credentials across our entire fleet. Our DHC-6 Twin Otter operations are assessed under ISSA, while our ATR 42 operations are audited under IOSA.

Completing both programs demonstrates that Winair’s operations meet the applicable IATA safety standards across both aircraft categories and establishes a new safety benchmark for regional aviation in the Caribbean.

A journey built on commitment
The road to achieving IOSA and ISSA registration began in early 2024.

It started with internal IOSA auditor training for responsible managers and continued with extensive preparation throughout the organisation, including flight operations, cabin operations, ground operations, maintenance, cargo, security, and organisational management.

Reaching this milestone therefore represents much more than completing two assessments. It reflects the collective effort, professionalism, and commitment of employees across Winair.

As Winair CEO Hans van de Velde explains:

“Safety is the foundation of everything we do at Winair. Achieving both IOSA and ISSA registration is a testament to the dedication of our entire team and a defining milestone in our strategy to connect the Caribbean with the world through trusted, seamless partnerships.”

Creating new opportunities for connectivity
The significance of these registrations extends beyond operational safety.

They strengthen Winair’s ability to pursue expanded codeshare and interline partnerships with leading international carriers. Such partnerships could give passengers greater access to seamless, multidestination itineraries connecting the Caribbean with Europe, North America, South America, and beyond.

For Winair, this is an important step in our continued development as a safe, reliable, and trusted regional carrier and in our ambition to make travel to, from, and throughout the Caribbean increasingly connected and seamless.

A milestone achieved together
Achievements like this are only possible through teamwork.

We extend our appreciation to every Winair employee whose dedication, professionalism, and commitment contributed to this milestone.

As we celebrate this achievement, we also look ahead. IOSA and ISSA registration reinforce the foundation on which we will continue building: strong safety standards, trusted partnerships, reliable regional connectivity, and a Winair that connects the Caribbean with the world.

Congratulations to the entire Winair team on this defining achievement.
