Windward Under-19 cricket champions to be decided on Wednesday

ROSEAU, DOMINICA; TUESDAY JULY 02, 2019 – Tomorrow Wednesday July 03, 2019 at the Windsor Park in Roseau, Dominica, Grenada will clash with St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the final of the 2019 WINLOTT INC WICBC Under-19 Cricket Tournament.

Also commencing at the same time at Benjamin’s Park, host Dominica and Saint Lucia will meet to decide the third place finish.

These matches were decided following the third round of matches with Grenada finishing top of the table on 15.5 points, St. Vincent and the Grenadines second on 5.9 points, Saint Lucia third on 5.6 points, and Dominica fourth with 5.0 points.

At Benjamin’s Park, Grenada defeated Saint Lucia by 81 runs. Having won the toss, the Grenadians decided to take first knock, racking up 215 for 8 in 50 overs. Seandell Regis top-scored with 66, Teddy Bishop 39, and Divonie Joseph 30, with extras contributing 20.

Grenada lost wickets at 32, 54, 93, 144, 145, 150, 192, 197. The wicket takers for Saint Lucia were Simeon Gerson with 3 for 49, Garvin Serieux 1 for 19, Craig Elisee 1 for 20, and a wicket apiece for Udell Preville and Lee Solomon.

In reply Saint Lucia lost wickets regularly to be all out 134 in 42.4 overs. Wickets fell at 28, 28, 31, 36, 74, 74, 118, 124, 124, all out 134. Garvin Serieux was left not out on 52, Kimani Melius batting at 3 made 31, and Lee Solomon 19. Extras totalled 08.

Bowling for Grenada, Sylvon Charles took 3 for 19, Jamie Buddy 3 for 21, and Rishaad Daniel 3 for 24. as Grenada won by 81 runs.

Over at Windsor Park, St. Vincent and the Grenadines handed Dominica a 107-run defeat. Having won the toss, Dominica sent the the Vincentians to take first knock who totalled 252 all out in 49.1 overs.

Romando Browne top-scored with 55, Carmalo Cain 50, and Jaheil Walters 40, with 32 extras. Wickets fell at 92, 103, 113, 164, 168, 169, 197, 207, 249, all out 252.

Bowling for Dominica, Malakai Xavier took 3 for 29, Savio Anslem 3 for 32, Shaheim Caesar 2 for 24, and Jedd Joseph 2 for 50.

In response, Dominica 137 for 8 in 20 overs, with extras contributing 27. Taj Tavernier led the Dominican effort with 56, Micah Joseph 25, and Neo Davis 12.

Dominica lost wickets at 01, 01, 12, 72, 94, 109, 130, and 136; Shaheim Caesar did not bat. Kyle Bobb took 2 for 18, Kemron Strough 2 for 29, and a wicket apiece for Tijorn Pope, Romando Browne, and Solomon Bascombe as St. Vincent and the Grenadines won by a massive 107 runs. (Robertson S. Henry)
