Winfes 2013 kicks off tonight Thursday, May 16, 2013

(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- The parish of St. James will come alive tonight, Thursday, May 16, 2013 for the official launch of Winfes 2013.

This year the festival is being held under the inviting theme, ‘A unique Cultural Fusion, Winfes Turns 7’. Mr. Jamal Jeffers a Brick Kiln resident is the patron for this year’s festival.

Tonight, the action kicks off with an Opening ceremony, then a Karaoke Competition at 7:00 p.m. at Dick’s Bar. Music entertainment would be provided by Extasy Sound, Judgment Sound and Dj Flames out of St. Kitts. Admission is only $5.00 E.C.

Then on Saturday, May 18, 2013, twelve of the biggest names in Kaiso will all be at one place for the Kaiso Showcase. This event will feature Unexpected, Meeko, Astro, Bingi, Dis and Dat, Pupa Wheeler, Hollywood, Lusman, Sabu, Nutsie, Shane and Flamingo. After the show Ultra Sonics Band and Brave Hearts Sound will rock the crowd. All this action will start at 8:00 p.m. at Dick’s Bar. Admission fee is $10.00 E.C.

On Sunday, May 19, 2013 the action will be at the St. James Drag Race where cars from Nevis and neighboring islands will compete. This will then followed by an event dubbed ‘Best of the Best’ at the Whitehall Hard court in the evening. A number of bands and deejays from the Federation are set to rock the party lovers until morning as persons gets warm up for the J’ouvert jam with the Odisi Band.

J’ouvert will be on Whit Monday starting from 5:00 a.m. After the jam all road leads to Herbert’s Beach for a Beach Affair.
