Charlestown-Nevis-The 11th annual Fruit festival was hosted by the Nevis Agriculture Department on Friday 29th July.
As per usual, one of the features for the day, was the cake competition. One of the key requirements of the cake competition is that some form of local fruit or fruits, must be one of the stand out ingredients.
The criteria used was as follows:
Flavour and tatse-20 points
Texture and other inside characteristics-25 points
Creativity in use of local fruit-20 points
Appearance and skill-20 points
Prresenation-15 points
Total-100 points
Sometime around 4 pm on that afternoon, the winners in the various categories were announced as follows:
PLAIN CAKE
1st Nisbett’s Plantation Inn-mango layered cake
2nd Denis Hoyte-Banana/Pineapple
3rd Brjay Paulius-mango/soursop
CHEESE CAKE
1st place-Judy Morton who incidentally placed second last year-mango cheese cake
