Winners of Senior Calypso Monarch and Miss St. Kitts and Nevis Queen to Receive EC$20,000 Each

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – September 6, 2026 – The winners of the 2026–2027 Senior Calypso Monarch Competition and the Miss St. Kitts and Nevis Queen Pageant will each receive an EC$20,000 cash prize, the St. Kitts and Nevis National Carnival Committee (SKNNCC) has announced.

In addition to the cash prize, the winners of both competitions will receive an enhanced grand prize package that includes land and other valuable prizes, making this year’s rewards among the most significant in the history of these prestigious National Carnival competitions.

Chairwoman of the St. Kitts and Nevis National Carnival Committee, Shannon Hawley, said the enhanced prize packages reflect the Committee’s desire to recognise excellence while commemorating the significance of National Carnival’s 55th anniversary.

“As we celebrate 55 years, we wanted this milestone to be reflected not only in the quality of our events, but also in how we recognise the extraordinary talent, discipline and commitment of the people who make Carnival what it is,” Hawley said.

She added:

“Our Senior Calypso Monarch and Miss St. Kitts and Nevis Queen represent two of the longest-standing and most prestigious competitions of National Carnival, and we believe their prizes this year should reflect the stature of those titles.”

The Senior Calypso Monarch Competition remains one of the Federation’s premier platforms for social commentary, storytelling, wit and musical expression. Each year, calypsonians use their creativity and artistry to address topical issues while entertaining audiences and preserving an important aspect of Caribbean cultural heritage.

The Miss St. Kitts and Nevis Queen Pageant continues its longstanding tradition of celebrating the intelligence, talent, confidence, cultural awareness and grace of the Federation’s young women, while providing a platform for personal development and national representation.

This year marks an extraordinary milestone as St. Kitts and Nevis celebrates 55 years of National Carnival, with the Senior Calypso Monarch Competition and Miss St. Kitts and Nevis Queen Pageant forming an integral part of the celebrations.

The National Carnival Committee has invited the public, returning nationals, visitors, Carnival enthusiasts and members of the Federation’s diaspora to join in celebrating the 55th anniversary of National Carnival.

With enhanced prizes, cultural celebrations and a full slate of events planned, the Committee is promising a memorable Carnival season that honours the past, celebrates the present and looks toward the future of St. Kitts and Nevis’ premier cultural festival.
