World Obesity Day – A Fun Run In the Sun Relay Participation

The Health Promotion Unit is kindly requesting your participation in the form of a 6 person team (5 racers and 1 backup racer) for their World Obesity Day Relay dubbed – A Fun Run in the Sun

World Obesity Day is annually observed on March 4th. This day is dedicated to addressing the global obesity epidemic. Obesity is a disease that affects more people than most of us realize, consequently the unified support of the nation is needed to change this. Likewise, obesity is a risk factor of Non-Communicable Diseases such as but not limited to, diabetes, hypertension and heart disease; diseases that have become a health burden to the federation of St. Kitts-Nevis.

As a ploy to raise awareness of the effects, treatment, and preventive methods of obesity, and in conjunction with the local theme, Passing the Baton of Good Health, the Nevis Health Promotion Unit will be hosting

A Fun Run in the Sun.

One of the many ways to prevent and treat obesity is by getting physically active, hence we thought it would be fitting to host a competitive short fun relay race involving adults from various interested/participating government Ministries/departments and business sectors.

We are therefore extending an invitation to your Ministry/Department/Business to take part in our relay to be held on March 4th, 2021 at 2 pm. The relay will take place on the main street of Charlestown and consists of 5 legs. Relay legs are as follows:
1st leg From Best Buy entrance to the Charlestown Police Station

2nd leg From Charlestown Police Station to the Courthouse

3rd leg From Courthouse to the Sim Daniel Bust

4th leg From Sim Daniel Bust to the end of Republic Bank/Sports Zone road

5th leg Turning left on Samuels Hunkins Drive and ending at the Bust

To facilitate this race in safe manor traffic will be blocked for the entire route of the race from 2 pm to 4 pm.

At the end of each station, there will be a refreshment station where racers would be given water and fruits to replenish their energy.

At the end of the race, there will be a very short prize-giving ceremony for the winners and participants of the race.

Each participant would receive a participation T-shirt and each person on the winning team will be given prizes.

Please note that space for registration is limited. We are only accepting six (6) teams to enter the race and teams will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis.

If your Ministry/department/business is interested in taking part in our fun activity please indicate this by replying to this email with the following information:
