Young Musicians Donate Thousands of Dollars

Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 20th, 2013 – Students of the Lawrence School of Music, one of the nation’s most renowned institutions, have raised and donated thousands of dollars to St. Paul’s Anglican Church. This year, these young musicians have enabled the Music School to donate $8,000 to this Church.

St. Paul’s Anglican Church is well over two hundred years old and has been ably providing for the spiritual needs of the people in the St. Paul’s community and the surrounding areas. The original building is amazingly still in use today.

On July 10th 2012, the Lawrence School of Music held its 31st Annual Pianoforte Concert. Under the tutelage of Lady Hulda Lawrence, the founder and principal of the Music School, past and present students presented a wide variety of musical pieces, on a wide variety of musical instruments, and in voice, to an appreciative audience. Each year, funds resulting from the pianoforte concert are given to a church, charity or other worthy cause or institution to facilitate God’s work on earth.

In a brief handing over ceremony Lady Hulda Lawrence said, “I am happy that we are able to hold these concerts as they have been a blessing to many over the years and I am also happy to see the young people so willingly use their God-given talents, their time and energy in the work of the Lord, thus sending a positive message to the youths of our nation.” Lady Lawrence expressed gratitude to all who attended or supported the concerts in any way.

In accepting the cheque Rev Fr Wilfred Daniel of the St. Paul’s Anglican Church, responded, “we love the way that you share with so many institutions, especially those which are in need. We say thank you to you, your family and to your Music School and to the families, parents and guardians who enable their children to be part of your School so that today you can give us $8,000 after so much hard work and sacrifice.”

Rev Fr Daniel revealed that the funds will be used to repair the roof of the church.

Students of the music school look forward to further support as they plan and prepare for the 32nd Annual Pianoforte Concert.
