On the evening of Sunday, 13th July, at the Malcolm Guishard Recreational Park, a very significant ceremony was held.
The Emmanuel Richards Summer Football program hosted an Awards ceremony, highlighting twenty years of successfully moulding young footballers across Nevis and teaching them the game and skills, in order to enhance their future development.
The invocation was done by Pastor Gene Amory, and the proceedings were ably chaired by team member Rohan Isles.
Director of Sports, Aljay Newton, who is a product of the football camp and a coach, lauded Mr. Richards for his stewardship over the years.
Mr. Richards, when he spoke, noted that the program commenced with just about 9 young Footballers. His first sponsor was Mr. Andy Liburd of Nevis Multi Line Services, and his first Coach was Mr. Evered WEBBO Herbert.
The program has now mushroomed into a regular, annual attendance of over 70 footballers and a huge and varied list of sponsors.
Sponsors and long-serving volunteers who have assisted throughout the years received certificates of appreciation from Mr. Richards and PS in the Ministry of Education and Sports, Ms. Zahnela Claxton.
The vote of thanks was wonderfully presented by team member, Mrs. Shenelka Clarke-Nisbett.
A cocktail reception followed.
