The St. Kitts Cricket Association (SKCA) proudly extends heartfelt congratulations to Kunal Tilokani on his selection to the West Indies Under-19 team, marking a significant milestone in his rapidly progressing cricket career.
The talented all-rounder has enjoyed a standout 2025 season, representing both the Leeward Islands Under-19 and Under-17 teams, and earning the prestigious Most Valuable Player (MVP) title at the West Indies Under-17 Tournament. He also featured prominently in the Cool and Smooth T20 Tournament, as well as the St. Kitts Senior T20 and 50-Over Teams, showcasing his versatility and maturity well beyond his years.
Reflecting on his journey, Tilokani described this season as both challenging and rewarding.
“It’s actually been a very challenging year for me. In 2025, I’ve played the most cricket I’ve ever played in my life,” he said. “I represented the Cool and Smooth T20 team for the first time, the St. Kitts T20 team, and was also part of the St. Kitts Senior 50-over squad. It’s just been a pleasure for me.”
When asked about the moment he learned of his West Indies Under-19 selection, Tilokani admitted he was surprised.
“I honestly wasn’t expecting it because I hadn’t scored as well as I wanted in the regional Under-19 tournament. But I didn’t give up. I went to the Under-17 level and showed them my quality and skills,” he explained.
His passion and drive for cricket remain unwavering.
“Honestly, cricket is my main priority. I think about it every day — I want to do well, I want to make it,” he said.
Looking ahead, Tilokani’s focus is firmly set on maintaining consistency and earning a spot in the West Indies Under-19 World Cup squad, scheduled for January 2026.
“My goal now is to stay calm, put in good performances, and hopefully secure my place in the World Cup squad,” he shared.
Tilokani departed for Grenada last Saturday to join the West Indies Under-19 squad, which will face England in a seven-match 50-over series — a valuable opportunity to test his skills against top-class opposition.
“England is a quality Under-19 team. I believe I have the skills and experience — it’s just about staying calm, being positive, and doing what I have to do,” he said confidently.
The SKCA has hailed Tilokani’s achievements as a proud moment for St. Kitts and a reflection of the continued progress in local cricket development. The Association extended best wishes to Tilokani and the entire West Indies Under-19 team for a successful and competitive series against England.
