Football : Drama and High Stakes Define Premier League Match Week 3

(SKNFA Report)

Basseterre, St. Kitts — Match Week 3 of the 2025–2026 NBG/SKNFA Premier League delivered a thrilling weekend of football, filled with surprise upsets, narrow escapes, and major shifts in the standings. The defending champions suffered consecutive losses, while MFCR Old Road United Jets maintained their commanding position at the top of the table.

Sunday, December 7 – Stunning Upset Rocks the Champions

Newly promoted Honda Newtown United produced the shock result of the weekend, defeating reigning champions S L Horsford St. Paul’s United and handing them their second straight loss.
A superb hat trick from Sylvester Caines, combined with a series of costly first-half goalkeeping errors from St. Paul’s, allowed Newtown to take early control of the match.

Despite falling behind 2–0, St. Paul’s rallied with a goal from Petrez Williams just before halftime, followed by a second-half header from Vyhonrai Francis to pull level. But in the dying moments, Caines struck again, securing Newtown’s first victory of the season.

In Sunday’s second matchup, Azul Cayon Rockets edged SOL IAS Conaree FC 1–0 after a decisive first-half strike from Roland Williams, handing Conaree their first loss of the campaign.

Saturday, December 6 – Jets Hold Firm at the Top

MFCR Old Road United Jets extended their unbeaten run with a composed 2–0 victory over St. Kitts Concrete Masters Sandy Point FC, with goals from Adondre Eddy and Jardel Isaac.

Later that evening, Rams Village Superstars delivered a dominant 4–0 win over newly promoted TGE Dieppe Bay Eagles, earning their first three points of the season.
Scorers included Denis Fleming, G’Vaune Amory, Tiran Hanley, and Ber-Nell Hobson.
The victory was especially significant, as Village began the season on –6 points due to preseason sanctions.

Head Coach Jeffrey “Pedro” Hazel highlighted the importance of the win and the team’s ongoing development:

“The team did play an awesome game. There’s still lots of work to be done, and we hope to improve going forward. We need to finish our chances and defend better—those are some areas we definitely need to keep working on.”

On how the squad has responded to the suspension of two players following a preseason incident, Coach Hazel added:

“A team is as strong as its weakest link. The players have been responding well despite the suspension. We just have to continue building from here.”

The final match on Saturday ended in a 1–1 draw between Development Bank St. Peters FC and Tropical Blossom Hotspring Bath United, with goals from Jal’Den Myers (Bath United) and Marvin McSheen (St. Peters).

The 2025–2026 NBG/SKNFA Premier League continues this week as teams gear up for pivotal Match Week 4 fixtures.
