BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS — A critical cyber safety alert has been issued regarding sophisticated phishing schemes targeting local businesses and individuals. Cybercriminals are increasingly disguising fraudulent emails as legitimate tenders, bids, and Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
The public is reminded that a familiar sender name does not guarantee an email’s authenticity, as legitimate accounts can be compromised and links hijacked.
Key Advisory Actions:
Stop: Do not click on unexpected links or open unverified attachments.
Verify: Confirm the authenticity of any procurement request directly with the sender through an official phone call or trusted channel.
Protect: Report suspicious emails immediately to your organisation’s IT department or relevant authorities.
This alert is shared in partnership with CARICOM IMPACS as part of an ongoing commitment to ensuring the online and offline security of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
