BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS — The Cotton-Thomas Comprehensive School (CTCS) is celebrating the remarkable achievement of former student Mia, who successfully passed eight of nine subjects—securing five Grade Ones and three Grade Twos—in the recently concluded 2026 CXC/CSEC examinations.

Mia, who is visually impaired, attended the Cotton-Thomas Comprehensive School before transitioning to the Washington Archibald High School to pursue her secondary education.

In a statement praising her historic accomplishment, the Cotton-Thomas Comprehensive School expressed immense pride in their alumna:

“Today, we celebrate an extraordinary young woman, Mia, a proud graduate of Cotton-Thomas Comprehensive School, whose journey is a powerful reminder that challenges do not define our limits.

Mia is blind, and her academic path was not without its hurdles. However, through determination, perseverance, strong support, and an unwavering belief in her capabilities, she successfully transitioned from Cotton-Thomas Comprehensive School to Washington Archibald High School. Today, we celebrate an incredible milestone as she earned eight CSEC passes out of nine subjects, including an impressive five Grade 1s and three Grade 2s.

At Cotton-Thomas, we continually emphasise the importance of parental support in the development of our students. Mia’s mother exemplified this dedication beautifully—encouraging, advocating, and standing beside her every step of the way. Her commitment highlights the transformative impact a supportive parent can make in a child’s life.

Mia’s success is a testament to her hard work, as well as the support of her family, teachers, and everyone who believed in her potential. Our school motto is ‘Soaring Beyond Expectations,’ and Mia is true living proof of those words.

Mia, we are immensely proud of you. Your achievement is not only a personal victory, but an inspiration to every student who has ever faced a barrier and wondered if it could be overcome. Keep soaring—your journey is just beginning, and we cannot wait to see where your wings take you next.”
