BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, SEPTEMBER 1, 2026 — The St. Christopher Air & Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA) is today celebrating its 33rd anniversary.
“This milestone reflects the dedication, commitment, and collective efforts of our staff, past and present, who continue to contribute to the growth and development of the Authority,” SCASPA said in a statement posted on its Facebook page on Tuesday.
“As we mark 33 years of service, we extend our sincere appreciation to every member of staff for the important role you play in keeping our ports moving and serving St. Kitts and Nevis. Happy 33rd Anniversary, SCASPA,” the statement added.
Before 1993, the airport and seaport operated as two separate entities. The seaport operated under the name St. Christopher & Nevis Ports Authority, while the airport was known as Golden Rock Airport.
The business of the seaport was conducted at the Basseterre Deep Water Harbour/Cargo Port in Bird Rock, which was constructed in 1980. Its administrative offices were located on Bay Road.
A transit shed for the receipt and storage of cargo was constructed at the Basseterre Cargo Port in 1985, followed by a new administrative building in 1990.
In 1993, the St. Christopher Air & Sea Ports Authority was established, assuming control of both the Golden Rock Airport and the Basseterre Cargo Port.
The airport was subsequently renamed the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport.
