In 1985, joining a new financial institution was considered a risk. At the time, it was difficult to attract employees, as few were willing to leave secure positions—particularly at established banks—to join a newly formed institution whose future was uncertain.

Many questioned whether the Bank would survive.

But Mrs Eunis Valencia Williams was willing to take that chance.

In a bold and courageous decision, Mrs Williams stepped forward in 1985 to become the very first employee hired by the Bank. Today, we honour her for that remarkable decision and for the confidence she placed in an institution that was only beginning its journey.

Four additional employees would eventually join her, bringing the founding team to five in preparation for the Bank’s grand opening on December 9, 1985.

Mrs Williams served as a Secretary, but in those early days, working for the Bank meant being prepared to do far more than what was written in a job description. With a small team and a growing list of responsibilities, everyone had to pitch in and contribute wherever they were needed.

Mrs Williams opened accounts, assisted customers, supported day-to-day operations, and took on whatever task was necessary to keep the young institution moving forward. Her willingness to serve, adapt, and give of herself helped lay the foundation for the Bank’s growth.

And as the Bank grew, so did Mrs. Williams.

Her journey is more than a story of employment; it is a story of faith, courage, commitment, and service. She took a chance when others were hesitant, helped build an institution from its earliest days, and remained part of its journey as it evolved and expanded.

That is a legacy worth celebrating.

Today, we proudly salute Mrs. Eunis Valencia Williams, our first employee, for her dedicated service, her courage to take a chance on a new institution, her unwavering commitment, and her invaluable contribution to the growth and development of our Bank.

We thank her for believing in the vision when it was still just beginning—and for helping to turn that vision into a lasting institution.
