Charlestown, Nevis — September 2026 — The Nevis Electricity Company Limited (NEVLEC) is advising customers that a Fuel Surcharge of EC$0.79 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) will apply to electricity bills for the August–September 2026 billing period.
The fuel surcharge is linked directly to the cost of fuel used by NEVLEC to generate electricity. Because fuel prices can change, the surcharge is reviewed monthly and may increase or decrease depending on fuel costs.
What Customers Should Know
The Fuel Surcharge is a temporary charge and is not a fixed electricity fee. It is reviewed as fuel prices change and helps NEVLEC continue providing a reliable electricity service.
Customers are encouraged to take simple steps to reduce their electricity use and manage their bills. These include:
Turning off lights and appliances when they are not being used.
Using air conditioning only when necessary and servicing units regularly.
Keeping doors and windows closed when air conditioning is in use.
Using LED bulbs and energy-efficient appliances where possible.
Avoiding leaving refrigerator doors open for long periods.
NEVLEC encourages customers to continue practicing energy efficiency, particularly during periods of higher fuel costs.
